Talking to founder Rudi Bedy, it quickly becomes clear that this is about more than just perfume. “The inspiration came from our travels. We got to know cultures, people and their scents. One evening my wife and I were sitting together with a glass of powerful red wine. This wine didn’t just taste good – its aroma told a story, and that inspired us. We wanted to create stories that you don’t experience just once, but that you rediscover with every single spray.”

For Rudi, perfume is an emotional medium: “You look at a picture once, you listen to a concert once. But a fragrance stays with you; it carries you through the day, it awakens memories, it changes how others perceive you. That’s where its magic lies.”

Extrait de Parfum instead of mainstream

While many brands rely on Eau de Toilette, L’ATELIERO takes a different path. “We wanted to create fragrances that last longer, feel more intense, that truly stay with you throughout the day. That’s why we work with Extrait de Parfum – our fragrances contain over 25% perfume oil. That’s Champions League in the world of fragrance,” Rudi explains.

The result: long-lasting, multi-faceted fragrances that don’t disappear in the crowd but stand out as true characters.

Between art & science

How long does it take to develop a fragrance? “It can take six months, sometimes two years or more. For us, it was a process of about one and a half years per creation,” says Rudi. “We worked with the notes every day, changed blends, recombined them – until the result was perfect.”

Perfume is a mix of art, science and passion: “You don’t just ‘find’ the perfect fragrance – you compose it like a piece of music. Every note has to fit, every combination has to tell a story.”

What makes a men’s fragrance irresistible?

“Men’s fragrances are often more powerful, but they still have to spark emotion. When creating a men’s scent, we always ask: Which notes feel attractive, what underlines strength, what underlines elegance? One example: lily of the valley. This note magically attracts men because it symbolizes freshness and new beginnings. Secrets like these are what make the world of perfume so exciting,” Rudi reveals with a smile.
